Busby Girls A.F.C. leads by example and are a great credit to girls’ and women’s football
With just over a year in existence, Busby Girls A.F.C. have set high bars and new trends as they continue to impress their contemporaries and peers.
It was Club Annual’s first all-girls football club that we worked with, and it turned out to be one of our best books to date.
The core of the annual was brilliantly written by Amanda-Jayne (A.J.) Dickson who is one of the head figures at the club. A.J.’s expert handling and grouping together articles from a host of names in the Scottish women’s football game was flawless, and her work ethic was an example of how this young club are run. A.J. certainly led by example, and the end result in the club’s progress and the club’s annual were testimony to those leading examples.
A.J.’s husband, Gary Dickson, head coach of the Busby club, heads a well-oiled unit with a brilliant backroom staff of organizers and helpers. It’s no surprise that this young club from the southside of Glasgow has exponentially grown in numbers and has the capacity to drive the name of girls’ and women’s football forward.
A spokesperson for Club Annuals said: “You cannot fail to be in awe of the desire, commitment and hunger for such a young club. Busby Girls A.F.C. is as impressive as it is dynamic. This club are going places and they are going there fast.”
Every club that we deal with are unique in its own way, but all clubs share the one thing they all want, and that is to win in areas other than results on matchday. It’s important that young children learn good social skills, enjoy exercise and meet friends. Those are the actual results any young club should strive for, and Busby Girls A.F.C. has had considerable success with it.
The annual is packed with photos of the young players, all categorized into their age groups; there are interviews, features and spotlights that make this book a very enjoyable read. There are also article contributions from some of the game’s biggest names, such as Kathy Hill, Suzanne Grant, Fiona McIntyre, Melissa Porter, Aileen Campbell, and so many more prominent figures of the women’s game in Scotland.
Overall, Club Annuals were proud to have worked with the Busby Girls A.F.C. on their book and we were impressed by the club’s structure, plans and enthusiasm.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to this stunning football annual and to the parents and coaches who purchased their pre-Christmas order.
